I know you’ve heard me say it before, but your clothes really do impact your mood and mindset.
Over lockdown I slipped surprisingly easily into a uniform of leggings, T-shirts, oversized bobbly cardigans and my 10 year old trainers – which is pretty much as far as you could get from my ‘normal’ clothes.
Like many, I needed my clothes to be practical (I was walking or cycling everyday) comfortable (who doesn’t need soft, cosy and easy on the tummy clothes when there’s a pandemic?) and I also actually enjoyed the freedom of the no make-up look and very visible roots.
My lockdown look was definitely sloppy but it felt completely natural given the circumstances.
But slowly, as we ease into a new normal, something started to change.
Getting dressed up gradually became something I enjoyed again. It helped me feel more ‘normal’ and I felt myself and my wardrobe coming back to life.
To me, feeling well dressed is linked to the feeling of being in control. It’s something I can influence the outcome of when the world is having a moment of madness and it feels SO GOOD!
So if things still feel really hard, just get up and get dressed up. I promise you it will make you feel better.
Here’s me heading off to the garden centre complete with sequins…….because, why not?!
