The importance of getting dressed….
I wanted to share my thoughts on why it’s worth putting in just a little effort to try to look and feel good.
I’m not actually leaving the house today as I’m nursing an ill child (well….I do have to put the bins out but that’s as exciting as it gets).
Not one person will see me. I’m not even holding any meetings via zoom. I could stay in my PJs and dressing gown and no one would know.
But I’m getting dressed and I’m putting together clothes in a way that please ME.
I’m creating an outfit for ME.
I’m making the effort for ME.
I’m wearing accessories for ME.
I’m doing it because the world feels a pretty depressing place right now and my clothes are a tiny way I can bring some light into MY life.
It’s just jeans (with plenty of stretch!), a long sleeve T-shirt and a snuggly cardi so it’s totally warm and practical but I’ve added a few funky accessories to feel a bit more put together.
I’m now walking a little bit taller, I’m holding my head up a little bit higher and I feel more positive on a day when all the news I hear seems to be the opposite.
So please don’t think dressing up is for the benefit of others.
Sure, someone might be cheered up by your clothes but the real reason for doing it is for YOU xx
